Hey TAYbros, it's poco here, and I just wanted to share an amazing song that I've listened to about 20 times today (so far).

I've been on a big old-school hip-hop kick lately since I've been re-reading Ed Piskor's amazing Hip-Hop Family Tree (currently sold out, but a 2nd printing is on the way... This book is solid gold, people. SOLID GOLD). This particular track by Charizma and Peanut Butter Wolf just makes me giddy. Some good, old-fashioned party rap.

Charizma is easily one of my favorite rappers of all time. He released his debut album, "Big Shots" with Peanut Butter Wolf, in 1992. Despite never signing to a record label, he managed to build a solid cult following opening for other acts and appearing on local television, but his life was tragically cut short before he could ever really "break through." In 1993 he was shot and killed in a mugging. His legacy is one album, and a handful of tape demo tracks. But damn, what a legacy that is. His producer Peanut Butter Wolf would go on to create Stones Throw Records, perhaps the greatest hip-hop label of all time, and influence other artists across the world. As his popularity grew, more and more people began discovering the mad genius of Charizma, as well they damn should. The guy had an easygoing flow and a real gift for writing. Hip hop is far worse off without him.

Bonus!

Here's Charizma and Peanut Butter Wolf in some old footage. Wow. Come for Charizma's amazing rapping ability. Stay for Peanut Butter Wolf's dance moves. This video is my life now...
